Lace Table Mats
Legend has it the ladies of the house of Baron of Hook Norton, Robert D’Oilly, made beautiful embroidered or crocheted pieces of art for the king’s household. They came to be known as D’Oilly’s linen. Today we just call themĀ doilies, but they are just as exquisite as the originals. Used as ornamental mats or table mats, the lace design allows the table top or furniture to show through while protecting your wood from scratches. Any old surface can be made elegant, and any new surface can be made to look vintage with these beauties, and if it reminds us of grandma’s house, even better.
